Hackney Million Mothers March 2009
Songololo Feet worked with the young people on various Hackney housing estates to make banners with positive messages,to be carried through the streets of Hackney.The theme of the march was “Valueing our children” and “Every Child Matters” The march was held in collaboration with Mothers Against Violence to help celebrate their tenth year anniversary. Songololo-Feet are in the process of delivering a project called Recycling In Shape, funded by Team Hackney. We are working with a group of over-sixties, teaching simple African printing techniques onto recycled fabric, which is then created into tablecloths, cushion covers or bags. Read More >

Woodberry Down Community Project:
Songololo Feet has just completed a 3 week project with families housed at Woodberry Down estate. The project was funded by Genesis, aiming at building family cohesion within an ESOL group. The families produced fantastic designs on to T shirts with a very strong Asian influence. The enthusiasm of learning new skills and sharing tasks together within different family units was inspiring. |

ANTI BULLYING ALLIANCE INVITED SONGOLOLO-FEET TO RUN A WORKSHOP AND TALK ABOUT OUR WORK IN THE COMMUNITY.
SONGOLOLO-FEET THEN TOOK PART IN AN ANTI BULLYING ROADSHOW ORGANISED BY GREENWICH COUNCIL.WE VISITED ABOUT 10 SCHOOLS, RAISING AWARENESS, AND OFFERING POSITIVE ADVICE, UP TO 3OO CHILDREN HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO DESIGN THEIR OWN ANTI BULLYING SLOGAN WHICH WAS PRINTED ONTO THEIR OWN PERSONALIZED GYM BAG. |

Awards for All
Songololo Feet was pleased to receive a grant from Awards for All to help roll out a series of art workshops for over 50's at the Methodist church in Dalston. The project has a human rights course and advocacy attached to it as well as two outings. The project is in full swing and really well attended. Thanks to Awards for All for making this possible. |

Songololo Feet has recently helped set up a women's textile group at Core Arts. We've also recently been told that Core Arts has recieved a small grant to help fund and continue the delivery of this project, which has taken off and definitely most needed.

Genesis Housing funded Songololo-Feet £2000 to deliver a series of textile printing and newspaper furniture workshops to BME families on low income, living on the Woodburydown estate.
The project proved to be very successful and due to public demand has continued with the help and financial support from Well London.
Songololo-Feet are now working together with Beyond the Barn, to try establish a Social Enterprise with the participants. |
